Cud & Tith’s Death and Dismemberment Thursday Movie: ’tis the Season to be Bloody round 2: Nic Cage has a bad time in Vampire’s Kiss (1988) (103 minutes) (4:00PM SHARP Eastern US Time) followed by the new 2024 Nosferatu (132 minutes) (5:48PM SHARP Eastern US Time)

The timeline is going to be very tight so in order to not cut into the evening time I will try to be actually very punctual and regimented.  We’ll only have time for the pee break song (https://tankie.tube/w/1GEpTVKWpxrzsmpui2pXEg) in between the movies

A note: timezones hard, feel free to use https://www.worldtimebuddy.com/ or something similar to do timezone conversions to your local time

IMPORTANT NOTE: please use a good VPN whenever visiting Blorptube, or anywhere else on the internet, for that matter.  Protect your privacy.

We will be using Blorptube tonight: https://blorp.bot.nu/o/visual_cuisine.  It is still recommended to use a VPN for peertube.

Continuing the vampyric theme from 2 weeks ago because it’s winter.  However, by coincidence, both these movies also have a lot of SA themes as well.  Sorry, that wasn't deliberate.

First up is Vampire’s Kiss (1988) at 4:00PM Eastern Standard US Time.  It is 1h43m minutes long.

Second will be Robert Eggers’ Nosferatu (2024) at about 5:48PM Eastern US Time.

Vampire’s Kiss (1988)

“The film tells the story of a literary agent who falls in love with a vampire. The film later developed a cult following largely due to Cage's "scorched-earth acting" “

Nosferatu (2024)

A remake and reimagining of the 1922 Nosferatu, directed by Robert Eggers (famous for The VVitch, The Lighthouse, and The Northman.  This is his first non The ___ movie!)  It sounds like it is much less wholesome than that one.

Content Warnings for Nosferatu (2024)

  • someone bites the head off a live pigeon, very graphic.  “ When Dr Sievers visits tje crazy man in prison is when the man bites off a pigeons head. After they walk in & you see him petting the pigeon around 53:00 - 54:09” — from DTDD
  • a lot of blood from vampire attacks.
  • self-mutilation, cutting

Actually it might be moderate but I’m erring on the side of caution since I’ve seen someone describe this film as “one big metaphor for sexual assault”

  • Stalking
  • Not shown, but mention of sexual assault of a child.
  • “There is no obvious sexual violence. However, the depiction of vampirism at times resembles and/or may be interpreted as sexual or erotic in nature” — UnconsentingMedia

  • objectification of women
  • gaslighting
