Non-Aligned Movement Calls for the US to withdraw the Extra-Regional Military Assets from the Caribbean to Preserve Regional Stability
The Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), which brings together 121 UN Member States and represents the largest political grouping of the Global South, has raised alarm over the dangerous military escalation unfolding in the Caribbean. The Movement denounced the growing presence of extra-regional forces and warned that any aggression against Venezuela or any country in the region could trigger a destabilizing spillover across Latin America and the Caribbean.
NAM calls for an immediate end to provocative statements and hostile actions, including recent attacks on small fishing vessels. It reaffirms its commitment to maintaining Latin America and the Caribbean as a Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zone and a Zone of Peace, and underscores that the UN Charter prohibits the use or threat of force. The Movement urges the withdrawal of extra-regional military assets in order to safeguard regional and international stability.
