Yesterday was rough… just trying to hold on 💔

Hey comrades… it’s been almost one week since I started updating here.

For anyone new… my sisters and I are trans refugees from Uganda. We fled violence and persecution and ended up in Juba, South Sudan. Life hasn’t been easy…we’ve been attacked, our shelter burned and had to rebuild more than once. Every time, it was the kindness of comrades here that kept us alive.

So yesterday, we got attacked again on our way back from fetching water. I was carrying 10L in a jerrycan when a group of guys started shouting at us, asking if we’re male or female. When I ignored them, they got closer. One even tried to force me to show my private parts. They started beating me, yelling that we’re homosexuals and deserve to die. Olivia and Charity ran, leaving me with Pretty. I honestly thought we wouldn’t make it… until a motorbike rider stopped and they slowly scattered. I have some injuries, Pretty is in pain and hasn’t received treatment yet. I’m still shaken but we’re alive.

On top of that, our rent situation is still urgent. Thanks to kind comrades, we were able to raise $531 and pay half the rent. Electricity and WiFi are back, which helps but we’re still struggling to get water and the little food we bought is running out. The caretaker came back today asking for the remaining 244 usd. I’m trying to stay calm and hold on, praying a miracle will happen before it’s too late.

I know I’ve asked a lot but I still believe in kindness. Every bump, share, or $5 helps us keep food in our bellies, water in our buckets and a roof over our heads. You’ve kept us alive before and right now, just seeing that people care gives me a little hope.

If you can help finish the rent or even just share our story, it means the world. Support link in my bio
