Are MMO economies basically MMT ?

In an mmo economy the developer magically injects whatever it feels like injecting into the economy (through monsters and dungeons). It does this at-will. Money is just created at whatever rate it wants to create it at.

Money is removed from the economy and destroyed through gold sinks, like spending 1million to expand your inventory space, something that doesn't actually improve your ability to make more money but takes hundreds of millions out. Gold sinks are just taxation, and the devs set it at any rate they want to set it at to remove gold from the economy.

This just sounds like MMT to me? You create whatever money you want to create for the players to use and you remove whatever money you want to remove in order to keep things nicely balanced and prevent too much of it being in circulation to the point that it all becomes worthless.
