On 18 November, at 6:30 p.m., a historic match is scheduled between the Catalonia National Team and the Palestine National Team at the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium.
After weeks of collective work, hundreds of people and organisations from across the country are ready to fill the Stadium in an unprecedented act of solidarity.
While in the Basque Country the federation, institutions and clubs have stood alongside the public to make the same match possible, this has not been the case in Catalonia. Tickets should have been released weeks ago, and the historic importance of this match —which comes after two years of genocide in Palestine— should already be being communicated across the country.
We have now learned that the intention is to move the match from the Olympic Stadium to a smaller stadium outside Barcelona.
Delaying communication, the lead-up activities and the sale of tickets until just a few days before the match can only be understood as a deliberate attempt to undermine the event.
We cannot accept this. And not only will we not give up the Olympic Stadium, but we are opening the ticket reservation process to demonstrate that Catalonia wants to fill it.
Because we have the teams, the supporters, the people, the history and, above all, we have the responsibility.
We have 15 days to make history.
