I kind of respect TLOU2 for this

The story seemed mostly odd to me on account of having all of the stuff happening with basically nothing to say other than revenge is bad (other than to slavers, which, you know - fine).

Making beloved deuteragonist Ellie from the first game a nearly unlikeable psychopath who fucks up her entire life on a revenge rampage and then pitting that against a redemption story of the entirely new character who tortured beloved protagonist Joel from the first game to death right at the beginning is big dick energy.
