My Hero Academia is just Harry Potter for weebs

• both protagonists want to be magic cops
• systemic issues are shown but are ultimately mentally resolved by making the evil guy a real meanie
• school setting where half the school’s groups fall into irrelevancy in the plot
• zero to hero power fantasy that mythologizes the down on their luck kid because they had a random chance event happen to them
• the good guys are needlessly transphobic to the bad guys (internals talking about Rita Skeeter like they’re trying to clock her, heroes deadnaming Magne)
• tries to be progressive but all open progressive messages of the story stop at conclusions came to in second-wave feminism
• weirdly predatory depictions of gay/bi people
• fucking resurrects the evil bad guy who’s personality is more comically evil than :it-was-me: even though they had more intriguing antagonistic relationships on the bench (more so horikoshi for that one)
• institutions are fucking incompetent but protag still wants to join them
• sheer amount of asspulls to correct whims that make it hard to take the stakes seriously
• latter half is just fucking bad
