Mazda’s battery-powered efforts thus far have been, well, more than a bit disappointing. The now-departed MX-30 EV was a stylish compliance car, with barely enough range for the average American commute in cold weather. Meanwhile, the only hybrid in the Mazda lineup is currently the CX-90 PHEV, which we’ve learned isn’t nearly as compelling as the turbocharged inline-six edition.

But the brand isn’t planning on leaving the electric vehicle market to its competitors. Mazda is planning to reboot its electric efforts with a new EV coming in 2025. Here’s what you need to know about it.
