The National Land Coordination Authority (ANCF), in partnership with the General Directorate of Industrial Development (DGDI), conducted a prospecting mission for industrial sites in the Bankui region on Wednesday, August 13, 2025. As a result, a plot of land of approximately 700 hectares was mobilized, 467 of which were reserved for the industrial zone in Dédougou.
The industrialization of Burkina Faso is a concern of the government, which is responsible for implementing the vision of the Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traoré. This vision, in addition to the ambition to establish industrial units throughout the country's various cities, also represents a commitment from the President of Burkina Faso to his people to boost economic development. It is with this in mind that the National Land Coordination Authority (ANCF) is organizing trips within Burkina Faso to explore sites for industrial units.
On Wednesday, August 13, 2025, ANCF officials were in Dédougou, in the Bankui region for this purpose, where they were able to observe the mobilization of 727 hectares of land, 467 of which were intended to house the city's industrial zone and the rest reserved for various activities. This mobilization of space by local forces, according to the technical secretary of the ANCF, Sibiri Hebié, reflects their support for the idea of effective industrialization of Burkina Faso advocated by the Head of State, by providing each locality with industrial units.
He explained that following this prospecting mission, another mission to mobilize, clear land rights, and secure the identified sites will be organized across the various localities. This eventual mission will be tasked with "registering the sites in the name of the State and granting them through long-term leases to the industrial applicants," Mr. Hebié specified. Clarifying that the government's vision is to no longer grant definitive rights to anyone on industrial sites. Regarding the security of the identified land, the regional director of Urban Planning and Housing of Bankui, Siaka Coulibaly, already reassured of the measures taken.
"The land applications we authorize must meet the industrial destination, industrial unit, and everything that goes with it," he emphasized. He also confided that following this mission, precautionary measures will be taken by his services to avoid issuing an opinion until the final mobilization of said lands on behalf of the State. The technical secretary requested the support of regional stakeholders in this initiative of the highest authorities of the country, which set the objective of carrying out a mission of general interest.
"The objective is to make this region truly attractive by providing it with industrial units and driving forces to transform the various resources and products," he declared. For him, this local attractiveness will contribute to the development of the region and the population's attachment to its land. The governor of the Bankui region, Babo Pierre Bassinga, welcomed this prospecting outing. "It is part of the Head of State's desire to industrialize our country to ensure its sovereignty in all its forms," he insisted.
He added that it will help reduce unemployment and boost development. Mr. Bassinga reassured his guests of the willingness of regional stakeholders to work to ensure that this ambition becomes a reality. He concluded with a call for everyone to mobilize and a special invitation to landowners and customary people to make land available to the State.
