To quantify the impact of climate change, we first collect structural information about the economy (e.g., the economic contribution of agriculture, population) and climate-related information (e.g., temperatures, share of the population exposed to sea level rise). We then typically resort to results of empirical studies and the academic literature to transform the data into economic impacts. Finally, adaptation capacity, also expressed in percentage points of GDP, is accounted for.
