The Communist Party of Canada is imploding due to the failures of the Central Committee to address a case of sexual harassment involving a prominent member

I thought this deserved a write up because holy shit the party's response has been fucking pathetic.

Background

A former member of the YCL, Jack, reported a case of repeated sexual harassment by the (now former) head organizer of the party, Jay. Jay was placed on paid suspension for 3 months as the party investigated and eventually concluded the report was true. He was ordered to stop interacting with the YCL as a result. The party then failed to inform his local chapter and knowingly allowed him to work out of the main office during a planned YCL event there.

Jack started speaking out against the CPC this past week for failing to adhere to their own procedures. Some party members, including members of the Central Committee, have been downplaying the issue on social media by ignoring the findings of the investigation, calling Jack a fed, a wrecker, and other unacceptable behaviour. Thankfully, many party members have spoken up in support of Jack, including notable twitter user and party member @AWindwardMaroon aka Q or Andray who has been calling out the behaviour and criticizing the party's handling of this situation. Jack has been calling for the Central Committee to resign due to this.

Present

The party has suspended members that have spoken out about the issue and had not taken any further disciplinary action towards Jay.

The Central Committee has issued an internal notice saying the following:

1. Jay has resigned
2. There will be a meeting about this today
3. Current leader Liz Rowley declaring that Q has created a faction and is leading an attack against the party to seize control just before the party convention. She has called his support of Jack an op and literally said "This is a Colour Revolution inside our Party"

Several members I know are super bummed out about this and are planning on leaving the party if this is not properly addressed.
