    our pots phone and even the dsl carried over it was far more reliable than the current fttn/coax setup we have now.

    one outage in the 20 years we had the old phone line and dsl at the office. a cable cut 50 miles away nixed long distance for part of a day. when other providers (cable, wireless, cellular) were down and out, we were always still up and running.

    in the year we’ve had the new setup? several all-day outages of all phone and internet (and video for those customers); and many, many others that were less than a whole day or night.

    our theory at the time was pots has strict service reliability standards, but other distribution methods do not even when used by a local exchange carrier delivering voice telephone service.
