It doesn’t matter whether you live in NSW or not, but the more people from NSW write in, the better.
Based on an election promise, the NSW Government has introduced the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Amendment (Enforcement and Operational Powers) Bill 2026 to update the previous Bill which is 47 years old and badly out of date.
Animal Liberation informs that
There has been no public consultation on the Bill, which in its current form, is completely inadequate, selective and disappointing. The Bill offers very little progressive reform for other-than-human animals and does not meet broad public expectations about how we regard and treat sentient beings.
This link doesn’t actually offer any specific reasons why we should. Just that they don’t believe it’s adequate
They don’t even say what should be changed specifically.
I have no idea what I’d actually be signing. Without additional info, this could be one of those “don’t kill the brumbies. Remember the man from snowy River” things.
They need to be specific
Furthermore, at times I’ve seen people say “no public consultation” it often means they weren’t consulted, and there was a reason they specifically weren’t included
Did you follow the instructions? There’s a lot of information.
