Gabe lies, he knows he has a monopoly. It is so bad that Epic tried to break through by throwing money at the issue. Steam controls 75% of the market. Microsoft is at around 65% for comparison.

Epic threw money in the fire barrel.

Instead of putting an effort and making their launcher a great experience, they just taught gamers to grab free AAA games and never really play them after.

Check stats. Epic drastically grew userbase since opening but their revenue is negligent compared to how it should be with the amount of users acquired. Nobody really buys games on Epic.

Adding to that, Tim Sweeney seems to be on the wrong side of the discourse as of late. He has been supporting the ideas that gamers overwhelmingly are against.

Sharing your situation. I got no Epic account. The reason is that when Merto Exodus was releasing, they struck a deal with 4A games to sell it only on their stores for a year. Artificial exclusivity so to say. And for that, fuck Epic and Tim. They do not deserve my money and my time. I do not care if they give out GTA5 or any other legendary game. I won’t budge.

Thing is, Epic is SO BAD that I’d rather pay full price elsewhere than get it free through Epic. Sure, they’ve hosted a lot of great games in their giveaways. But to take advantage, I’d have to use Epic. Ugh.
