As much as I wouldn’t be surprised if JKR was actually trans, I don’t think it’s ever good to invalidate someone’s identity. She clearly has a lot of issues with femininity and gender, which definitely factor into her feelings about trans people. Her hatred is undeniably rooted in internalized misogyny, but whether that means she would actually be happier rejecting femininity all together is not for us to say.
Pretty convinced its mostly always projection, so in this case the trans hate is actually self hate. Maybe someone should send jkr some testosterone.

There’s possibly two areas at play here.
One, misogyny. To put it succinctly:
Male to Female trans; Why would a MAN want to give up his power and prestige to be a /WOMAN/!
Female to Male trans: How cute, a /WOMAN/ is pretending to be a MAN.
The second part is internalized hate for being untrue to themselves because they cannot fathom living in the society they created for trans people.
That’s how I have come to understand transphobia.
