It would be great if there was at least once instance that was federated to most of the other instances (except Nazis and porn) just so lurkers could keep track of what’s being posted via ‘Recently added’.
Does anyone know of an instance that does something like this?
I thought so too at first but if I’m reading the ‘Following’ filter on this page correctly then my best bet would be to go with Libre.Video (although the figures reported there don’t seem to match up with those reported by the instance).
Interesting. I might need to check on that. I have discussed with framatube in the past about discoverability. Also, the kodi app had been outdated for a while. I think they’re struggling with popularity. Youtube is still the monopoly and peertube probably doesnt have that much money to throw at competing. Also the p2p stuff sparked some privacy concerns. I‘ll have a look at my peertube instance later and check whats new.
Well using Libre.Video on NewPipe turned out to be a bust. It only plays Local video, everything on Recently added and Trending fails.
I tried to use Fedilab but it wont let me lurk, requires a login to use an instance which is not possible because Libre.Video has user registration disabled.
So now I’ve added Peertube 1312 to NewPipe, it appears to be following more instances and the Recently added, Local and Trending videos are all playing. I might be sorted.
there is a search engine, or peertube website created by the same devs of peertube at Framasoft, to enable you to search peertube at large. go to https://sepiasearch.org/

Try framatubes instance. They seem to be pretty connected.

Just a thanks, I was completely unaware you could add peertube instances to Newpipe. And here I am, so thank you :ಠ_ಠ
