“Celebrate Me,” released by an AI-generated persona IngaRose, currently sits atop the iTunes charts in the United States, United Kingdom, France, Canada and New Zealand.

Five of the top 100 songs on U.S. iTunes as of Friday afternoon are by IngaRose

This just doesn’t seem to be true (anymore anyway). I didn’t see the name a single time scrolling through the Top 100: USA chart. The chart is updated daily; I suppose it’s possible there was manual intervention since Friday?

Different chart. iTunes and AM top 100 are different. The iTunes Charts are for song sales past day and the barrier for top 100 or even 10 is incredibly low since everyone streams or buys physical now rather than individual songs on iTunes.

        Thanks for clarifying

ETA: not #1 anymore but this definitely seems like a more believable one day change. Probably cheaper to buy your way into the top of a chart than actually produce a hit

Also, “Five of the top 100 songs on U.S. iTunes as of Friday afternoon are by IngaRose” certainly sounds like chart manipulation.

That could be another reason for manual removal. But mission accomplished for the AI slopper either way, since they got their free advertising.

I’m not so sure I’m proud of our top 100 still, though. I mean I guess it’s better than AI but I can’t say I want to listen to either.
