The page for socialist state does not include Laos and on its own page it says it is a “people’s democratic state”, unlike the other AES states, which say they are socialist states. Is there a reason Laos is not considered a socialist state?
It was removed by an anon edit that was approved so I undid the anon edit. They have their own conception of the differences between people’s democracy/worker’s state/socialist state which is not necessarily wrong or bad but it’s a huge change esp coming from someone who doesn’t have an account, and if they want to make such a sweeping change to what amounts to our line they should at least join the discord and discuss it.
the edit was approved back in november 2025 and we’ve had some internal restructuring since that time that should provide a better framework for approving anon edits
I think someone just forgot to add them. Laos has a very low profile on the international stage.

keep it secret.
keep it safe. You’d think that, but if you look in the edit history, Laos was once listed and then removed.
that’s adequately explained by Dark Forest Theory
It looks like it’s counted as socialist, with the form of a people’s democratic state as lined out in their constitution. It says so on the main page for Laos.
The Laotian constitution states that the LPRP “is a people’s democratic state” defending “the interests of the multi-ethnic people of all social strata with the workers, farmers and intelligentsia as key components.”[2]
The Lao People’s Democratic Republic is one of only five socialist states in the world today (alongside Vietnam, Cuba, People’s Korea and China). The Lao PDR adheres to Marxism–Leninism and Kaysone Phomvihane Thought as its guiding ideology.
Also curious as it seems nobody has any fucking consensus on Laos
Lotta catching up to do French left it in horrid state very mountainous & little connection grew out of their presence they just inserted themselves into tributary system
It looks like on the Laos page it says its a socialist state, I see that listed twice https://en.prolewiki.org/wiki/Lao_People's_Democratic_Republic
I mean in the infobox under Government, it says “Unitary Marxist-Leninist people’s democratic state” instead of “Unitary Marxist–Leninist socialist state”, like the other AES states
I did some more research and it seems Wikipedia has it the same on this page, with Laos as the only current people’s democratic state and the others as socialist states.
What the fuck is that supposed to mean?Wikipedia-Speak
