She is Feminist, and pro-Human Rights… in her own mind, but certainly not in practice.
It was after thinking about the massive rollbacks for women and minorities across the world after the destruction by the Eastern Bloc that I realized that, not only is fighting against AESoc bad for the working class, it is bad for women and minorities. Not only was the USSR proudly feminist itself (as is obvious), there were countless concessions given to the American people due to fears of the USSR, which either included gains for women or helped it along. Thus the destruction of the Eastern Bloc (with Parenti chronicling how women doctors were forced into prostitution) actually heavily weakened feminism abroad, and the bourgeoise, without any opposing powers, were free to make “shocking” misogynistic statements.
Feminism, indeed, was about women working together from the start in order to achieve womens’ rights, and in an individualistic, hyper-competitive Capitalism, there is no real banding together like there once was.
I just wanted to make sure that people knew I spelled something wrong. I didn’t want to seem like I was subtly changing my message before people knew. Will do edits next time.
