I miss having a centralized community for Blender 3D modeling and sculpting like what Reddit has. I genuinely feel that this site has enough users to bring back a similar feeling community, but it seems that on Lemmy everything is so spread out. Seeing how I have finally visited the above communities and saw how sparce the content is I really feel we should/could condense the Blender topic down to one community, while also leaving a link in the about page of older lesser active places to take users to the most active location: !blender@lemmy.world. Is this something that the fediverse is also looking forward to accomplishing?
Edit: I am being told that one of these instances has shut down, so I feel that’s just another good reason to consolidate these communities 😅
Edit 2: Not sure what the outcome has been since the most comments were saying was about the dead/inactive communities. So if anyone is looking for an active Blender community go to: !blender@lemmy.world
This one seems a little different
Yes, it seems to be the official Blender peertube instance
It’s only open to mods, though, unless that was intentional 🤔
Yeah, I just meant that it looks like the one ran by Blender doesn’t really compete for activity with the other general Blender user communities. I’m in favor of consolidation in most cases, but I think that one is justified in being a separate thing.
Ooooh okay, makes sense. Thanks 😁👍
They probably prefer no to have to deal with spammers on that community
Makes sense in that aspect
