We seem to be very near the bleak choice between War and Shame. My feeling is that we shall choose Shame, and then have War thrown in a little later on even more adverse terms than at present.

I’m curious is it a coincidence that both of these “peacemakers” were from conservative parties of their countries?
That’d be an insult to Chamberlain tho, as he was still quite competent in domestic politics, laid foundation to welfare state etc.
