This strip itself is a wholesome take on the old (dark as fuck) “joke”:

“What do you do when your dishwasher stops working?”

“Hit her until she starts washing dishes again.”

Referring to your spouse as your dishwasher is a little dehumanizing, but I get what the cartoonist was going for.
