Europe already had a thriving defense industry. For the rest, the US can offer their goods, IF the price (tariffs!) are ok Europe may buy them.
So I’d argue there is a difference between something being a dilemma and the obvious choice is not free of problems.
Agreed. I’m not a fan of militarism, but it’s pretty clear that Pax Americana is over, so we need our own defence industry. Sad as it is.
