6 kilowatts and 280 Nm of torque is definitely overkill for a pedal-assist bicycle.
“1 hospital visit please!”
And for whoever they crash into as well… While I do think power limits for eBikes are a bit too low here in Europe, I gotta say I’m glad we don’t have death machines like that thing rolling around on our trails.
It’d be nice to have a robust system of e-bike classes that’s commonly accepted everywhere without being underpowered and license/training required for stuff that gets into motorcycle territory. In the US, they just classify them as “offroad vehicles” but in some places lots of people ride them on footpaths, which gets all e-bike riders in trouble with the public.
Surely that torque is inaccurate? That’s over twice the amount of torque that a 2024 1.1L Africa Twin puts down. I don’t know how you would even control that on something as light as an e-bike.
Possibly but electric motors can put out a stupid amount of torque so maybe not…
Peak torque, measured somewhere. For an electric motor that’s usually hold or near zero rpm torque. A computer does the controlling.
But, yeah. Crazy number.
I like it, but more as a light electric motorbike than as a bicycle.
