Confusingly, something was lost in translation over the years. I blame the parents here. But for several years now, we have had candy and our porch light on, even sat visibly by our front door waiting for a knock. And people just walk by. Did I miss a memo about porch lights on Halloween not being a thing anymore? It’s far too hot where I live most years for sitting outside. I just don’t get it. Then the few that do show up rarely say trick or treat and/or have the most low effort costumes possible. Took the fun out of it.
