Original Title: TIL cells contain a protein machine, called the proteasome, which takes misfolded proteins that can’t be refolded and breaks them into smaller subunits. It is part of a system called the ubiquitin–proteasome, where ubiquitins detects the misfolded proteins and sends them to the proteasome.
