Walking around pissing and shitting is dangerous to the environment. The point is collective control of production and technology so the profit motive doesn’t get in the way of tackling these issues.
Just dropping ‘the nerd reich’ came out in August and illuminates the techno fascist motives which has, and has always been, breaking things to prove neoliberalism is a failure in hopes the world breaks into network states that they get to run. Plus a little bit of western Christianity apocalypse cult sprinkled in.

I’m really not sure what to make of this sudden wave of AI doomsday talk. It’s hard to tell who’s making a “ChatGPT will go Skynet any day now” argument versus who’s making “defense contractor CEOs will let AI make mission critical decisions unchecked and it’ll AI hallucinate an order to carpet bomb the eastern seaboard” arguments. Which I suspect might be the point, they’re trying to muddy the waters when it comes to AI criticism.
While I think that it is true that the “AI is so dangerous, it might go skynet and enslave humanity because any day it can become the omniscient computer-god” is just bullshit marketing hype.
But for the broader logic, I think we can’t rely on that any more. The last few years have shown that there is no adults in the room. No coalition of the bourgeoisie is going to sit down Trump or any other powerful figure and give them the Network talk when they fuck with the money or do something that isn’t even rational by capitalist logic.
There was never any adults, adults are a myth just like cultivators.
