I don’t know what the article says.
-
Why? I am looking for a job and am broke. $4000??!
-
Congratulations on your fake dog my dude. You’re The Man Now Dog!!
-
I will stick to real/meat dogs.
Here’s the article: https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2026/09/i-spent-4000-on-a-robot-dog-from-china/
This is the best part:
As I entered my own neighborhood, I glanced at two indicators in the corner of my phone screen. One showed that the robot’s battery was at 5 percent—dangerously close to empty. The other showed the internal temperature was 84°C (183°F).
We were within sight of my front door when the robot suddenly collapsed. I’m not sure if it ran out of power or overheated, but either way it didn’t shut down gracefully—it rolled onto its back with its legs in the air.

84°C
The robot learned to mine bitcoin!
And tbh, I think ‘rolling over an putting legs in the air’ is not a bad sign of the machine being in trouble. Seems like a clear ‘something is wrong’ state you want your bot to go into.

- Reprogram it to seek out and destroy Flock cameras.
- Release it into the wild.
- Watch it shit the bed before it gets out of your front yard.
On the negligible chance that it actually succeeds at destroying a Flock camera (or more likely blocks traffic or something), blame the dog and get out of any consequences. It worked for OpenAI in the Huggingface incident.
This dog can aim lasers in my enemies eyes, can your real dog do that? Thought not. /s
I could absolutely train border collies to fire harness-mounted, bark-activated lasers while pointing at the target so long as I let them herd their victims as a reward.
Fear me.
I will be unstoppable if I can manage to corner the tennis ball market before I begin the revolution. I keep trying to get Wilson, Dunlop and Penn in my mouth at the same time and they keep falling out… and then there is the matter of all the vintage tennis balls.
Can’t eat a robot dog
Don’t limit Elon Musk’s dreams like that.
Meh, Benn Jordan did it better.
I think his offer still stands that, despite humanoid robots being stupid, if Unitree sends him one he will film himself having a boxing match with it.
Benn Jordan always does it better, he is like the XKCD of being-a-pretty-decent-dude-about-things-a-lot-of-people-don’t-know-enough-about and I am tired of him always dominating that shit pre-emptively!
I paid money to have a foreign surveillance platform in my own home!
You got a cat!?!! WHY
From the book Accelerando
Our narrative perspective, Aineko, is not a talking cat: it’s a vastly superintelligent AI, coolly calculating, that has worked out that human beings are more easily manipulated if they think they’re dealing with a furry toy. The cat body is a sock puppet wielded by an abusive monster.
Brilliant! You are very knowledgable about the sinister nature of cats! Come work for Big Red Dog we need more good people like you not brainwashed by Felies!!
