China continues to be viewed with widespread scepticism. 77% are in favour of reducing economic and political dependencies – even if this could entail economic disadvantages.

    Because it is a lot. Polls are traditionally really conservative, because retired and jobless* people have time to participate in polls.

    *: This shouldn’t imply that jobless people don’t work to get a new job. They just are home at different times of the day.

      I don’t know, I’ve heard some other places that polls slightly skew progressive. Especially if they’re only online-based.
