    In my experience it’s actually the opposite, communists call for critical support of the Russian Federation while liberals bleat about KGB infiltrators.

      No, not communists in general, only tankies. The reason is Soviet nostalgia and the nebulous feeling that Russia is anti western imperialism - which is just not true anymore. Russia has the same basic political philosophy as the USA nowadays, which is fascism.

        Its very funny when you guys think you can talk to a communist and tell them what they believe based on what you’ve heard in the big game of redditor telephone from other people who have also never talked to us.

        Imperialism is not a political philosophy, it’s a material process. Russia materially undermines western imperialism, which is hegemonic. This isn’t about philosophy, it’s about how the US Empire actually functions, and how Russia’s position as an encircled nationalist country relates to that.
