Cute Russian comic. The home of the official English version is here if anyone wants to skip ahead (or support them): https://boosty.to/gabiconomics-en
Vertical foreclosure occurs when a dominant firm in one market uses its market power to restrict competition in another market connected to it through the production or supply chain.
Time to fold some gremlins into their co-op?
Yeah I think this is probably the most irrational decision we’ve seen from Chief. It’s not going to move Gabi, it’s not going to benefit Chief, all it’s really going to achieve is his own workforce getting more unruly. He appears to think that Gabi will be disciplined by seeing their conditions but I am much more inclined towards Gabi seeing it as an opportunity to agitate them.
Maybe just quibbling over what it means to “move Gabi”, because I agree that it should and probably will move her more towards agitating the gremlins (also, I think TIL they’re gremlins? Was that mentioned previously?) rather than moving her to sell to the chief (at least at prior prices), but it certainly seems like news that will move her in some way - just probably not the way the chief wants.
(also, I think TIL they’re gremlins? Was that mentioned previously?)
Briefly after Chief first got them yeah. They’re the immigrant workers he got off the back of a caravan.
Yeah, I must just be forgetting they were actually called gremlins in a comic. I had been thinking of them as migrant goblins.
Not that it solves the problem of the chief taking it out on the workers, but they could have tripled the cost instead - maybe it forces the same outcome of buying elsewhere in the end, but could have helped them pay off stuff until the chief can arrange that.
