Never use food, especially sugar, as a reward.

“If you get an A on your test, we’ll go out for ice cream!” NO, do not do this. Go to a movie, or take them to a park, etc. Food is not a reward, or a motivator.

Food is nutrition so we can do the fun things, fun activities. Food is not a fun activity in itself. That distinction needs to be made early and reinforced often.

This seems weird, bordering on “masturbation is pleasurable therefore a sin”

I understand not shoveling garbage down your kids throat as a coping mechanism to make them happy, but your take seems way too extreme as if you should never derive pleasure from a nice meal or treat.

I once saw a lady give a baby who could not have been older than 6 months a bottle, a literal baby bottle, of coke. I watched her open the baby bottle, open the container clearly marked Coca Cola which she purchased in the near by gift shop, pour it into the baby bottle, close it and pop it into her very very young infant’s mouth. I even had my crazy ass auntie who is dead now thank goodness, try to defend it when I had posted this story on Facebook as an update cause I couldn’t believe it and this was like 15+ years ago at this point so this is a generational problem.
