Just a rant about my liberal dad

So, just going to put this rant here, because I've spent the best part of this evening in ragemode after I again got to witness the ignorance of my liberty hippy generation dad who has always presented himself as a highly educated man of the world, but who is in fact ignorant to a point that drives me up the wall. Might delete later.

It all started by this man posting to our family chat about how he thinks someone should start a translation business, because the translations in his treat tv shows are so bad now.

I replied with:

Ain't nobody human doing those anymore, it's machine translated. It's just capitalism being capitalism.

He replies:

Oh but soon all information will be foggy, but I suppose that's the point so people can't understand anything anymore.

So here we see the man being so close, so very close to seeing some of the contradictions, but no. He continued:

The age of enlightenment was too short, just a few hundred years. We are swiftly returning to darkness and a reign of terror. Liberalism was too beautiful and demanding of an idea for the people (common folk).

I leave it at this point so I don't start shit that is pointless to start. A few moments pass and he finishes with:

Liberty is responsibility.

I mean MY GOD!

I'll add that this family chat and the people in it completely ignore anything I ever post about Palestine. But a word translated wrong in their treats starts a rant about a reign of terror and darkness. That is one thing.

Another is that this man, a huge Lennon stan, always wants us to listen to imagine when he's drunk and gets all teary eyed about it. I once said to him "you realize the song is describing not-capitalism?" And he blew a fuse shouting that Lennon was not political. Lol (I know what a shitstain Lennon was btw., decided to not get into that with him)

He is the epitome of the smug liberal who gets his entire worldview from watching liberal white men like him debate on tv on how the middle east is complicated and therefore nothing can be said. He hates Russia and the Russian people and genuinely wore a nato t-shirt in high school. He is the most incoherent person I have ever met in my life.

The type of guy who is an environmentalist that will use a pesticide so he can sit outside drinking booze without being bothered by insects. All the while listening to a song about how nature is dying and crying about it.
