Just a reminder that water striders are really cool

They have a very low weight distributed over six contact points, which allows them to move over the top of the water while exerting very little pressure on it. This pressure is so low that it's not enough to overcome the water's surface tension, so it depresses under their weight (similar to a mattress or couch cushion) without its surface breaking.
