Germany’s ruling conservative and Social Democrat parliamentary groups called on Friday for stronger European protection against unfair competition along with specific measures to support automakers.
Parliamentary sources said the proposals were aimed primarily at Chinese overcapacity.

Subsidies only for domestically built cars are okay imo. It’s also a very small measure compared to China’s protectionist policies. The country is essentially a closed shop.
It’s not enough, though, Germany and the EU must go a far tougher path in a lot more areas, including access to Chinese domestic markets, joint venture limitations in China, transparent supply chains, a Chinese legislation that respects human rights, and much more.
