  • If you deal with the fundamental problems of the protocol itself and also provide backwards compatibility... Congrats, you've just reinvented Wayland and XWayland.

Dealing with X11's problems while still being X11, when X11 is the problem? Yeah, I wouldn't hold my breath either.

  • A short, sharp shower of, uh, fecal matter.

  • I remember hearing back during COVID when everyone was WFH that sales of business pants had tanked. Sales of business shirts hadn't. So that tracks.

  • A human centipede of slop.

  • There's people on Youtube who teach you how to take a video's transcript, use it to generate an AI video and upload it to Youtube.

And they're upset people are taking transcripts of their videos, generating AI videos and uploading them.

Just... Just take a minute to contemplate that. It's amazing.

  • XP was the first one that had proper memory protection so that badly written programs would just crash instead of taking down the whole system.

It was a dramatic step forward compared to 98, where you'd be lucky to go a whole day without bluescreening. There's a reason XP hung on for so long. It was the first Windows version that was really good enough for most people.

  • Anything is if you're brave enough.

  • Or even just a piece of shower curtain glued along the top of the hole.

  • It's DSL, so the speed depends on line length. To reliably get 250M you're probably doing fibre to the footpath outside the building.

  • Judging from the way AMD got up and spent all their time talking about their data centre products, nobody does.

  • Smeg-heads do be like that.

  • Galaxy

The word is derived from the Greek galaxias (γαλαξίας), literally 'milky'

So the Milky Way galaxy is named after boobs twice.

  • Really? I'm not seeing any recommendations to get a booster unless you're one of the people who received an inferior vaccine back in the 60s, or only got one dose back in the 80s and got missed by the school-based catch up programs in the 90s.

  • This. Fossil fuel vehicles waste a ton of energy stopping and starting again. If you bring a few dozen cars to an extra stop that might waste more fuel than you saved by riding.

  • The market isn't growing due to demand, though. AI is being pushed by businesses and investors hoping that demand will appear in the future. They're burning through tons of cash, not growing naturally due to user interest.

  • Trickle down economics, because they're pissing on you.

  • I just wish each video decoder manufacturer didn't feel the need to create their own API that isn't supported by anything.

  • Apparently he thought it would be funny to interfere with our immigration enforcement operations.

    I mean, he was right.

  • Almost every AI step in this process would be better done without AI, though.

Using a ton of AI agents instead of a stable API is the opposite of streamlining.
