Fuck Nationalists, White Supremacists, Nazis, Fascists, Zionists, The Patriarchy, Maga, Racists, Transphobes, Terfs, Homophobes, Police, ICE.

  • Pfft, as much as I hate Nazis, this is a war/nation state problem. All 1st world militaries contribute to climate change, all in the name of war and preserving national borders.

All for the explicit ultimate purpose of accumulate power to the top of vertical hierarchical political strucrures, be it dictatorships or representational democracies.

The #1 contributor to greenhouse gases isn't the private/public sectors, though the private sector plays a significant role for sure.

No, it's the US military. The US military is Earth's Greatest Enemy.

  • For most supplements its likely you have to give it time.

I've done everything from trying to enhance my brain using nootropics, enhance endurance, and mitigate mild/moderate depression.

And y'know what I take today after all that experimentation? Lol, Vitamin D, Vitamin B, and a medium quality fish oil supplement.

Supplementation falls within a weird area as it covers a lot of different ground. Some of it is BS, while some of it has some scientific ground to stand on.

Based on my own personal research and consultation with my doctor, I've determined fish oil and vitamin d, and probably vitamin b, are safe supplements to take when closely monitored with regular blood work checks, and are highly likely to have positive benefits when taken regularly.

I'd always default to advice from my doctor, and when I mentioned the high dose fish oil and vitamin d, he simply said my blood work looked fine and asked if I felt good, which I did. We closely monitored my blood work as I continued the regimen, and nothing bad really happened after taking these supplements daily for almost a decade now.

I personally take fish oil/d because it helps to regulates my mild to moderate depressive episodes, and the fish oil noticeably reduces inflammation from exercise. I take vitamin B complex mostly to ensure I get enough B12.

Anyways, that's my 20¢ on the topic.

  • I'm skeptical of this. Ed Zitron laid out exactly why this is unlikely on his Better Offline Podcast last December, and I would generally agree with his assessment in regards to the argument.

  • I'm not really a Trekkie (haven't watched almost all of the franchise), but have watched all of Lower Decks, Picard, SNW, and am keeping up with Star Trek Academy.

I loved Lower Decks (personal favorite), wasn't the biggest fan of Picard, loved S1 of SNW, and don't think I'll be sticking around after disliking S3.

I am currently keeping up with Star Trek Academy. I like the characters, but I feel like it hasn't picked up steam yet. So we'll see.

  • This is one of the best overviews of the differences I've seen. Nicely done.

The only thing I want to add having played around a bit with Bluesky before eventually deciding it wasn't for me is that, unlike Mastodon, Bluesky does use a series of algorithms you can choose from when you initially sign up that curate your feed for you.

Basically from a purely user experience, the major difference is the sign up of an instance on Mastodon (which technically exists on Bluesky, but doesn't really exist in practice), and the more apparent difference is the lack of an algorithmic feed on Mastodon.

What I like about the Fediverse is that I am in complete control of my feed. There are no algorithms trying to analyze my behavior to predict what I like. I prefer to have people recommend me shows, movies, books, articles, subjects, etc., and that's what I get on Federated Platforms.

This does mean initially though my feed is just filled with a chronological ordering of hashtags I've followed by selecting interests during sign up, and thusly it takes some additional effort to setup and personalize when compared to centralized platforms.

It'll take a while before people wean themselves off the abusive relationships inherent to centralized social media, but imho, Federated Platforms will eventually become as ubiquitous as RSS feeds and wikis. Quietly everywhere, not flashy at all, but running the best parts of the web.

    EDIT: Removal of repetitive wording.

  • Finally, an honest tech billionaire! 🤣

  • He's just trying to save face cuz Orange Pedo Protector Daddy is mad at him.

  • Gentoo, OpenRC, BSPWM, Nvim, Librewolf, Ortholinear Keyboard.

  • Daughter Rapist and Mangled Penis

  • Dude, either you are me, or I've been spending waaaay too much time on Lemmy, or both, lol.

Same fucking page. You broke it down better than I did. No notes.

  • They're not. Make no mistake, MAGA is full of a myriad of ideologies ranging from fascists, christian nationalists, white supremacists, anti vaxers, misogynists, transphobes/homophobes/terfs, pedophiles, capitalists/monopolists, incels, manosphere bros, and more.

They don't care about what they together stand for, because as a single entity? They only stand for one thing: the power to take away social and civil liberties. To fuck the public, and maximize profit and control, to MAKE us all, at home and abroad, comply.

Even amongst MAGA, RFK Jr is a joke, only a small subset of MAGA take him seriously and luckily they'll be dead of heart attacks and treatable diseases soon. What's sad is they'll have taken down so many innocents along with them. RFK Jr is there to distract the American public of the real issues with our Health Care System which is mainly affordability, access, and a competitive public option. It's not that he's even in the pocket of Big Pharma, though that is likely true. But even if he isn't, Big Pharma still benefits from his incompetency, from the sideshow he creates.

Hopefully that clears things up. Americans aren't stupid because they don't have access to the medical research and information, Americans are stupid because their pride tells them that their intuition and their echo chambers of validation make them right in spite of aforementioned research and information. That's MAGA, that's America.

Basically all of us are choosing the devils we know because we gave up on looking for angels of our better nature long ago.

  • The morning after Benito Mussolini’s death, partisans dumped his corpse in Milan, and an angry crowd soon converged. The mob kicked, spat at, and urinated on the body of “Il Duce” while shouting curses at the dead dictator. His mutilated corpse was then hung upside down from a gas station, a symbolic retribution for the suffering he had caused.

    EDIT:

    Furthermore:

Their bodies were left in a heap, and by 9:00 a.m. a considerable crowd had gathered. The corpses were pelted with vegetables, spat at, urinated on, shot at and kicked; Mussolini's face was disfigured by beatings.[53][54] Allied forces began arriving in the city during the course of the morning and an American eyewitness described the crowd as "sinister, depraved, out of control".[54] After a while, the bodies were hung by their feet from the metal girder framework of a half-built service station.[53][54][55] This mode of hanging had been used in northern Italy since medieval times to stress the "infamy" of the hanged. However, the reason given by those involved in hanging Mussolini and the others in this way was to protect the bodies from the mob. Movie footage of what happened appears to confirm that to be the case.[56]

  • Content Warning: Photo of dead Nazis.

Mmhmm, you love to see it.

  • Fair enough, but it's not an either or situation here. People can criticize both Trump and Obama. Just because Obama is saying the right things now doesn't mean he's not a hypocrite, and I'll be damned if we all just willingly forget exactly who made some of the bad decisions that got us to where we are today.

Fuck Trump, Fuck ICE, and yeah, Fuck Obama. Not equally, but yeah, fuck'em.

    EDIT: removal of pronoun

  • Firstly, may I remind you that you are online? If you are going to criticize someone for inaction, maybe you should stop wasting time bishing and complaining cuz someone made a comment you didn't like on a social media feed, go outside, and take your own advice.

Secondly, pointing out hypocricy, especially as that hypocrisy relates to a person in power, and especially when said person in power is a former president of the US, is a far cry from whataboutism.

I can draw a straight line from the Patriot Act to the privacy invading tools ICE and other Federal Agencies use today, and while Obama didn't draft nor sign into law the Patriot Act, he did fuck all to end it. Heck, he extended provisions of that horrendous act in 2012.

So nah, I'm not about to forget that there's plenty of blame to go around when it comes to Obama. And yeah, I'm gonna shout that shit into this void. Thanks for reading.

  • One of my earliest wake up calls was when a certain president didn't outright dismantle the Patriot Act, allowing illegal privacy invasion policies on American citizens to continue and have now made the life of ICE officers a lot easier.

I wonder who that president was...

  • Probably podman?
