  • Isn't FUTO an organization that named their keyboard application after themselves?

  • I think waiting on the phone for an hour just to argue with someone to cancel a subscription is reasonable, as long as the signup process also involved waiting on the phone for an hour before an agent tried to talk you out of buying the service.

But if I signed up on a website in 30 seconds, it should take tine or less to unsubscribe on the same website.

  • A linux-only society. Those using non-free systems (google android, windows, macOS) are expelled.

  • LVRA is a great source of Linux VR info. Wivrn is easiest to setup using envision. Its biggest disadvantage is that it uses a translation layer for OpenVR games, though it works pretty well.

  • Have you tried using Wivrn instead of ALVR? I found it to work way better. Also, I don't think the Bigscreen beyond is well supported yet on Linux.

  • From a privacy point of view, it makes pefect sense to not share your phone number with a merchant. The only buisness you have with them is a single transaction, they don't need any more information about you other than knowing that you paid.

  • I generally find that peertube lacks much content but I've found a few channels that I am actually interested it. I find that the video quality is usually higher than what youtube gives me, so I use peertube for the few videos a month I can.

Also, I'm replying from a linux phone running postmarketos, a pixel 3a specifically.

  • I started using reddit just for the memes and would use some 3rd party frontend to get rid of the ads and nake the interface way cleaner. When the API pricing was announced, I serched for a better source of memes and somehow found lemmy. No ads, no bullshit, and there are some cool communities here that I actually want to participate in.

  • Electric vehicles are peddled as some sort of cure to climate change when they are only a bit better than gasoline cars since they still need the massive amount of infrastructure needed for cars. I stilk think that people buying an electric car when their gasoline car breaks is reasonable enough if other transport options are unavailible. But our focus should be on making those other options of transport both availible and reasonable rather than focusing on a specific drive train technology.

  • Also, with the existence of E-bikes and electric scooters, it seems like even older people who don't have the stamina to ride a normal bike can still use and benefit directly bike lanes.

  • Except unlike busses, mail parcels don't get impatient waiting for their stop.

  • I think Canada should be ashamed of the 401. Widest Highway in North America, and the competition is fierce. Good on you for distancing yourself from this.

  • As an additional precaution, authorities also recommend bringing a brick no less than 1kg in mass to show to drivers while crossing.

  • They would also filter out a newsletter I signed up to that I actually wanted to read.

  • It's crazy to me just how well those 3d printed wings withstood the high forces involved.

  • That's where I think android's biggest advantage lies: the staggering amount of high quality, no bullshit FOSS apps available.

  • I guess the best thing to do is to research the bikes that do this bullshit and don't buy them.

  • I don't know why you are being downvoted since the distance from other cars should absolutely reflect the current conditions. I also agree that to drivers need to proactively look for possible collisions in mirrors and blind spots, though they should be generally calm and patient when driving.
