  • Man, I really love Signal. Not only is it open source and they actually give a shit about privacy, they also don't shy away to give the finger to companies that don't. It's a shame they have to put their time into ways to stop Mocrosoft from spying, but I'm glad they're doing it.

  • Aber wie teuer kann denn ein Dach über nem Parkplatz sein? Ich meine hier im Beispielbild sieht es recht fancy aus aber das muss es ja nicht unbedingt sein.

  • There are no different races in humans. The sooner we stop promoting this unscientific lie, the better.

  • No, sorry. Go watch any sitcom from the nineties. There is a lot of stuff in there (racism, sexism, homophobia) that would cause a shitstorm these days.

Maybe you lived in a progressive bubble back then (good for you) but as someone born in the nineties who grew up in the early 00s, I have to say, ignorance was a lot more tolerated back then, even in the 00s.

  • Sure, but knowing how fucked something is and actually speaking out about it are two very different things.

  • Capitalism didn't used to be like this because it was still developing, but it was always going to become this. Enshitification is not a bug, it's a feature. Capitalism is supposed to work like this. And when it wasn't, it was just because it wasn't there yet, mainly due to technical limitations.

  • So it was 30 years ago. I feel like, even though things are far from perfect now, nowadays a comment like this would draw quite a few more critical looks than back then.

  • There are still people with a communal family PC? I thought that was a 2000s thing.

  • Perfect opportunity to brag about my latest impulse buy!

  • Gibt doch schon Unterteilungen zwischen kleineren Tischfeuerwerk (worunter zb auch Knallerbsen fallen) und größeren Feuerwerk wie Raketen und Böller. Einfach genau da die Grenze ziehen.

    1. You don't. It fixes itself.
    2. Acquire some roadkill and skin it.

  • Meant bitter, not sour. There is no way anybody likes that taste.

But even if you do, for me it wasn't 'this is so disgusting I'm not gonna bite anymore' but more my brain snapping out of unconsciously biting as soon as I realized the taste and then you get a brief moment to consciously stop.

  • Dermatophagia is a bitch.

Get some of that nail polish that prevents you from biting your nails and tastes really sour and put it on your skin instead of your nails. It won't stop you from biting necessarily but it will stop you from unconsciously biting.

  • Same here and that's good for us personally but it's important to remember that a vast majority of people either don't have the willpower or are wholly unaware of how unhealthy social media is. That's why we need to regulate it just like we regulate tobacco.

  • Already made 50 points today. I think this is becoming my new hobby. It's like geocaching only that it's useful.

  • Wow, thanks for the streetconplete tip! I'm going to make it my mission to rid my town of all unknown data points!

  • Lemmy is definitely addictive but when comparing it to algorithm oriented platforms, we are basically comparing alcohol to cocaine. Both addictive but one way more than the other.
