I'm posting mostly before sleep, while hitting that bubba kush pen and without glasses so bare with me if I have typos or if I'm not making sense. Always happy to hear the thoughts of others

  • I think that was op of the top comment here said - that they post it for everyone, without expecting a profit, for people to enjoy. But scummy actors are using their art to gain profit in immoral methods.

To bring the 2 points together - once something is online(fully agree with what you said) bad actors will inevitably use it to gain profit and commoditize it.

  • I was thinking to myself that it can't be that many people, but sure enough I was wrong and was surprised to learn the following from the Wikipedia article about super-tasters:

"Research suggests 25% of the population are non-tasters, 50% are medium tasters, and 25% are supertasters."

Quite interesting and concise page, recommended. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supertaster

  • Totally, although the thing is I bet one day tvs will come with a built in sim card, or worst yet will disable themselves until there's an active internet connection or some other scummy method

  • It is for the people to understand not to use such garbage, yes. If they cant figure it out, there is always text and phones.

You contradict yourself. So the ban is not needed? You were saying it's up to the youths to find alternatives.

What I was saying that these platforms are toxic, they have a destructive affect on all, and we all deserve something better.

A government ban never worked on anything and jts the stupidest and laziest of all options.

  • As I said, we all deserve safe online spaces, especially the youth but not only. I'm failing to see how this is the road to that.

  • 50mil for a company like meta is chump change, and it is not proportional to being a teen in today's world locked out of all main communication hubs.

Youth are not the ones who need to 'figure it out'. Massive companies, market leaders and decisions makers should, but they are all trash.

Its a sensationalist solution that will surely backfire, it only address symptoms while ignoring the underlying many many problems.

    Very short sighted

  • Seems like the same story all around the world. Scary shit

  • Most motor bikes produces more noise than a full sized truck or bus, that alone makes them inferior

  • Instead of punishing these cancerous cess pool manipulative platforms, they punish the kids.

The youth deserves to be able to communicate and use the web the same as the rest of the population.

Regulations should be such that these platforms are neutral, non manipulative safe spaces where people can come together share content and discussions.

The overall stupidity of decision makers is incomprehensible to me. Literal shit sacks politicians that should all be thrown into a hole.

Beat of luck youth, my heart is with you. Hope Lemmy will be the answer(or some other decentralized platform)

  • "On a long enough time line, everyone's survival rate drops to zero."

  • Believe me I'm on your side, but some situations requires being smart over being right

  • Don't answer like that, it makes you look petty and condescending

  • Follow up questions are also a great idea. If the advice is bad, navigate to the conclusion you want with the questions and try to consult the advicing person in such a way that they will have to deal with the shortcomings of the advice

  • That's a good idea

  • Always thank them and look sincire. That can't hurt. Do consider it thoroughly, and when possible, show them you acted upon it, for example in your next task, when giving an update, give it in such a way than mentions said advice, even if you took another path, and explain you considerations then.

From my experience, people are not interested in the best professional outcome as much as they are interested in having some meaning, weight or control. Use it to your advantage to get ahead

If the advice was garbage and you know it, try to explain why it was good advice "although I had to do x y since the advice is more fitting if we were dealing with a b"

  • Treating code as text here is the main issue. If it were just some paragraph there wasn't an issue. Code should probably shared with context i.e. the ref to the location in the repo unless it's really self contained in which case should be shared in such a way that will be monospaced fonts, preferably with syntax highlighting. For sure not a screenshot.

    Logs are the same

  • Vegans don't usually want the taste of meat. It's just marketed like that, and that's what we see in the supermarket. I'd be fine if it just said 'tofu chunks' or whatever.

The similarity to the so called meat is by shape and seasoning.

The main and most important benefit is that it makes it easier for people to stop eating animal products.

  • Yeah if it's not clearly marked vegan but also says veggie then it pretty obvious in my opinion too. Could be vigan(most likely not) and that I should check.

If it's something that is supposed to taste like something that came from animals, I'm pretty certain you'll always see it marked vegan if it is

  • Enough with politics they should be rectangular for easier stacking
