  • I am not a C developer, but I found the "helper has a terrible name" and "it's not clear what the helper is doing" arguments a bit weak.

Who in they right mind does not think the helper creates a 32 bytes word by putting the 16 bytes of the first argument followed by the 16 bytes of the second one ?

  • Same here. I generally wait for the first point release.

However this time, I also have to wait for LMDE 7 which should come in September.

Shame that the Linux Mint is focusing on the Ubuntu-based version. LMDE, despite it's greatness, still feels like a "plan b".

  • Ah yes correct.

Thanks for the lengty review, this game is also on my radar.

There has been a big review in the french game magazine CanardPC: they praised its originality but warned for its difficulty and "unfairness".

  • I think this is made by the same studio as The Invincible.

  • If you come from Debian, you can also consider Linux Mint Debian Edition - LMDE, which should be even easier for you.

Currently it's LMDE 6 but a new release is around the corner, with the imminent release of Debian Trixie.

  • Thanks for the thorough explanation!

Then it's a mystery why the didn't use Hall effect joysticks. It the cost of the part so much more expensive?

  • While Nintendo is absolutely to blame for not fixing the situation, I've heard they were not going for hall effect sticks because of the interference with the joycons magnets.

Full disclosure, I have no Switch, Retrodeck Enthusiast here 😁

  • Awesome idea. In base 64 to deal with all the funky characters.

It will be really nice to browse this filesystem...

  • What guarantees you that your cheap Chinese-made charge-only cable does not actually contain some malware injection in the hardware (connectors or cable rim) :p

  • Sorry for the naive question, but is it not possible to send the excess electricity to the ground (in the electrical sense)?

  • Wrong, some were mentioned:

These systems offer some seriously compelling stuff - updates that either work 100% or roll back automatically, no more "oops I bricked my system" moments, better security through immutability, and way fewer update headaches.

  • And the viruses that write themselves to the boot sectors of the hard drive?

  • Does anyone have an idea what would happen if one runs a Windows virus with Wine ?

  • The point was trying to make is that PC is often a second rate citizen in these collectors editions.

My guess is that if you're customer of these editions, you want a "beautiful" object full of goodies, and, as a collector item, you won't open them or use them anyway.

I guess this is the reason they started to make them without a version of game included these last few years.
