  • I'm not sure what you think your threat model is here. I'm not happy about it either, but my place of residence isn't entirely private information already. I'm pretty certain it's available through multiple public information sources. Cameras being able to see me in that vicinity might help someone determine my daily habits and schedule, but there are many other ways of that as well.

Again, I'm not happy about it, but I feel like you need to ask yourself what risk you're trying to protect yourself against here.

As another commenter pointed out, any of the amazon based ones are part of amazon sidewalk and record nearby bluetooth and wifi devices. Sidewalk is also partnering with flock, so that data is available to law enforcement and possibly corporations that use flock for security to be able to use for advertisement.

But so is your phone's location data.

So if you're trying to protect against this sort of thing, you'd need to be taking much more extreme steps. Different dogs at different times with entirely different outfits and rocks in shoes to make different gaits. Face coverings. Multiple burner phones not tied to your identity, and only taken out of farady bags to use in association with different identities.

And then it still would all tie back to the same house/general vicinity.

There's no perfect privacy options, so you need to identify your threat model. What are you trying to protect against, how important is it, what are the quantifiable risks of failure, and how inconvenienced are you willing to be to achieve this.

It sucks. I'm not happy about it. But you can't stop your neighbors from using them. So you'll need to accept it, or come up with alternatives. Feel like moving to someplace more rural?

It's always going to be a balance.

  • Where shitpost?

  • No, seriously, it's not. I got confused as well. All microsoft renamed this time is the online portal "app" you could use to access the online webapp versions of Microsoft Office programs.

Still stupid. Still needless. Still confusing.

But not the ridiculousness the clickbait headlines claimed.

  • Why bother with creative writing drawing more subtle parallels between fantasy and reality that might be more effective in changing hearts and minds, when you can just point at real things and go "bad thing is bad".

Anyone who already has a clue gets to go "hahaha bad thing bad they're so right" and people who don't just get bounced off the show so there's no chance to get them to think about things.

  • Where meme?

Edit: Here's a quick image for posts like this, enjoy.

  • Got a coworker where his sinuses just built up again or something after a few years and his doctor told him he'd have to have it done again. Best of luck to you.

  • Not really well, at least to my knowledge. Neither of the options I'm aware of work with mobile apps for lemmy.

There was some site that would attempt to auto redirect to a person's home instance, and there are a few userscripts for browsers that try to do the same thing with normal instance specific links like yours.

There is a lemmy redirector app for android that tried to work like the userscripts, and maybe I'm not using it right, but I've never gotten it to work on my phone alongside lemmy apps.

  • That was exactly my point. It absolutely qualifies as "trying to/working on having a kid", definitely as much or more so than tracking cycles for unprotected sex. Similar for the IVF process.

It's work and it's not easy.

  • Bringus Studios on youtube has a lot of "Getting Steam OS running on weird thing" videos if you get a kick out of this sort of stuff.

  • You'd like lemmy.dbzer0.com (lemmy) or anarchist.nexus (piefed) then. Run by the same folks.

Not a co-op, but they've put in place systems for instance users to democratically vote on all big administrative changes, any user can start a "radical" vote to oust any mod or admin, and people who have donated to the running costs (even just once) get more vote. Enough that people invested get more weight, but they wouldn't be able to completely override the will of the rest of the userbase.

Politically anarchist, pro-piracy (head admin and creator is former head mod of reddit's r/piracy), accepting of AI (mostly pushing for local models, so corps aren't the only ones with power) but don't really have issues with anti-corp-AI views as long as you aren't being a dick to the pro-AI comms/users.

  • You don't need sex to have a kid, actually. There's the adoption process and IVF as well. Both would also technically be "trying for a baby", but people usually are more specific when talking about those.

  • I'm sure understanding those things helps, but it's not an easy thing to hear for people stuck in an imbalance in the relationship.

Sure doesn't feel "healthy" when you feel your needs aren't being met, especially when you get told the problem is you because you want more than they are willing to give.

"A big part of my love language is physical intimacy. When my partner doesn't reciprocate any interest in it, despite every attempt on my end to communicate my needs, it makes me feel unloved. I'm hurting and you're going to tell me it's my fault?"

Look, it's very easy to casually give advice like this when you aren't stuck in what feels like a fundamentally broken relationship.

  • That sounds great. No offense to OP, but even with the blur the speed of theirs would just make me anxious all the time.

  • This would make an amazing shitpost of a counter to people whining about Windows 11 start menu being react based.

I assume js is just the file type and GNOME isn't running a full browser under the hood, but this could make a lot of people upset, lol.

  • That's cool, and makes a certain sense.

Gundam relies on rule of cool really heavily. They use chest cockpits, but the head usually carries a bunch of the sensors. Eye cameras, and the classic V fin on the head are antennas for communications.

Makes room for some fun scenes where a suit is "decapitated" and still fighting using secondary cameras.

  • Yeah, it's not hard to point at problems and call them what they are. Much more so to identify an effective action plan.

And it's easy to call for (or in this case make vague as hell implications towards) collective revolutionary violence when it won't be you or your loved ones' blood and bodies in the street.
