  • Still playing elite dangerous, sort of grinding for a corvette I guess. But I've been playing a little less to make time for No, I'm Not Human and Fellowship.

    First playthrough of no I'm not human was interesting, but it feels kinda grindy playing through again for more endings - I've only got bad endings so far. Trying not to spoil it for myself by watching streams though.

    Fellowship open beta has been interesting. I can see it being a great replacement for wow mythic+, something I've missed a lot since quitting wow because of bds labeling Microsoft as a boycott target. I think they'll need to flesh some stuff out a bit more, but I'm cautiously optimistic for early access next month I suppose.

    Speaking of wow, been considering finally picking up Turtle wow after they got sued by blizz. Tbh I'm not a fan of the classic era of wow and definitely wasn't a fan of classic wow becoming an official part of the game - its in the past, leave it there imo. But I'm still intrigued by the idea of expanding on the lore themselves on a private server no less.

    Shanghai Foxtrot by Mu Shiying is another really interesting one, though the writing is more experimental. I'm a fan of May Fourth movement writers lol.

  • I'd also add that you shouldn't ignore mods if you wanna get the most out of the game. First playthrough, yeah go without mods and get a sense of the game. But I have like an embarrassing amount of time in this game and I think I did one or two playthroughs without mods, so a majority of my playtime is thanks to mods, especially long War of the chosen.

  • Yeah, you can, personally I think xcom2 is the better game as well (well, in terms of polish and mod support).

    I've never played the dlc with the alien kings/queens/whatever. However, Shen's gift (I think?) is required for most of the important mods now (namely long war 2/lwotc) and war of the chosen is needed for the more "complete" long war mod. Even without mods, I'd say those 2 are worth it anyways, the chosen can be fun or at least an additional challenge.

  • You can understand the game's story and appeal by playing any of the games for 5 to 10 minutes, skip the others in any order you like after that.

    True lore masters do something similar, but they also add the games to their steam library and then skip them for other games in order of release afterwards (for example, most gamers are deepening their lore knowledge by skipping this installment after downloading it and playing silksong instead).
