  • I guess my point is that it may change minds and perspectives of ICE. I don't disagree. But, that doesn't change the outcomes. And I don't see it as being effective at doing that. Not anymore that the news coverage of Sandy Hook did for gun control.

    The school shootings changed the views of many people in this country on gun control. But changing minds is not my end goal; and it shouldn't be others goal either. Changing minds is meaningless if there is no systemic change. We can all believe that climate change is caused by humans burning fossil fuels and that it will destroy our world as we know it. But if nothing is done to prevent it the prominence of that idea is meaningless. Numbing to a degree in that "every government knows it's a problem. Surely something will be done"

    I think the American society is sick. We accept our children being gunned down. We accept our government funding and defending a genocide in Gaza. We accept that our politicians and the wealthy were all friends with a pedophile that invited them to rape children. We will accept ICE being Nazis.

    We have been entirely conditioned to accept everything until it reaches our doors personally. I guess I should replace "we accept our children" with "we accept others children" in that last paragraph. Because that's truly how selfish our society is. There is no "we" in America.

    I don't know what it will take for Americans to stop going to work and destroy this entire system. I really don't. I think our society is is one of the most unhealthy in human history. To the degree that viewing coverage of violent actions of our government becomes numbing. It has been a way for those upset to feel as though they are doing something simply by knowing about it.

  • Clear your login data and cookies on all your devices. As you use your device with different logins just force yourself to do "change email" after each one as you use them. It will be annoying for like the first day. You'll randomly remember "oh yeah, I still have Gmail for my electric bill that's on auto pay". It's fine. It doesn't need to happen in one day.

    Porting Drive and Photos is more annoying and time consuming. But that's just a night with a beer or two and a guide you can find online. All of which will offer alternatives. Just be sure you're not going from one awful company to another when you choose one. Self hosting is great but it's not for everyone.

    It's not as bad as you think it is. You probably overestimate the number of accounts you actually use regularly.

  • I literally never encouraged violence mate. I explained a real situation where thousands of people are being given the option of (1) get brutalized, kidnapped, or killed. Or (2) defend yourself.

    That's it. You didn't like that that was reality. I don't like that either. But I understand why people will resort to violence as a means of defense from state violence. They will when all other systems have failed them. And they have. We are at the stage of SS troops door knocking for papers if you didn't notice.

    YOU want people to keep choosing option (1). (Or are just ignorant which is clearly your issue) So you're incorrectly labeling me as the problem for even acknowledging that (2) is an option.

    That's not encouraging violence. It's acknowledging reality of what happens when people are brutalized by the state. I don't want option (1) or (2). I want an option (3) the systems of state government to defend citizens. But that's not happening. They are offering NOTHING to stop people from being attacked.

    You took my criticism of the lack of any option (3) as being advocating for option (2). I'm just acknowledging reality. Are you in denial and think option (3) is "going to work later" or something? Later isn't fucking helpful when it's happening right now and (1) and (2) are the choices.

    I hope that clears it up. Because I'm not going to engage in your radlib identity bullshit you just tried to inject into the conversation for no reason.

    But, you are ignorant of what's going on in the streets. Watching a video isn't giving you an experience of reality mate. You say I'm wrong that you're ignorant of this and then literally admit you can't go out on the streets. You are by definition ignorant of the experience on the street. Go search for DSA, PSL, or any immigrant rights organizations in your area and go sign up for the next available meeting. Join a meetup IN PERSON some time this week or next. Find a way to help.

    Like, I guess it supposed to try and get people on the fence to realize what's going on. But, I don't think it actually works. I think it actually creates a disassociation between the large numbers of innocent victims and the "special case" of victims we see in the headlines.

    It's essentially telling normies "hey, all the shit they are doing to noncitizens is fine. But you should care about these 3-4 cases of obvious white victims that actually have enough video footage for us to cover"

    You know what normies are gonna think? Fucking nothing. We live in a country where people have normalized the mass shooting of toddlers. I don't think the hyper-focus on "perfect victims" is waking people up. I think it's making them feel as helpless to change anything as they did after Sandy Hook or Uvalde.

    Edit: a cop is far from a "perfect victim" but the people that respect cops see it as such.

    You (your nations leaders) all watched and "felt bad" as it enabled a genocide in Gaza. Some even condemning it while continuing to arm Israel as not to upset America. This cannot be understated. This gave America the confidence to do what it is doing now. Gaza was a testing ground.

    Now, that empire asks you to bend the knee and remove the illusion of self sovereignty.

    Korean people, Vietnamese people, Iraqi people, etc. Might want to read some of the struggles against empire from their perspective. Because that's what is happening now. You can still think "that won't happen to us". Well, you might want to prepare for that.

    Because "the 65%" of normal citizen in the US don't want any of this either but they are just as inactive as you are. Your resistance gives us in the US more power to resist as well. We need to realize that this not a fight between nations and leaders. But a fight against the people of the world. Our blind eye towards Gaza and other crimes has given the green light for it to be done to us.

    We are not fighting against nations. We are fighting against the rulers of wealth. We are sitting in the fascist imperial core being subject to SS troops going door to door. You (in the rest of the west) will see material conditions decline as your politicians are pressured by their own wealthy ruling class to give in to the empires demands. You cannot let that happen. America needs to be choked. It needs to be sanctioned and boycott and if necessary fought against. Do not let your politicians give in; and you cannot afford to continue to be inactive.
