  • A local insurance company tried to deny a claim because the person was "caught" horseback riding. As if sitting on a horse on a flat trail is some kind of extreme physical activity.

  • In business, I think it's less that power corrupts. CEO positions aren't being randomly handed to good people. The preexisting psychopathy, i.e. the ability to value money and profit over their fellow humans' livelihoods, is exactly what makes them suited for that position.

  • Plenty of CEOs are psychopaths, it's practically a requirement to rise to the top. The business world would see him as one of their own.

  • No, they get shorter range at a higher price than batteries.

People push for it because they are either middlemen who want to sell the hydrogen and get a cut of ongoing profits, or Luddites who believe EVERYTHING must operate exactly the same way gasoline cars do or else they'll never switch.

  • It still kinda makes sense for long haul trucking, where the inefficiency of hydrogen is still better than the weight (and thus cargo capacity) of just batteries.

It has absolutely lost the war for passenger vehicles and even short-distance trucking.

  • But then the executives will make less money

  • I think the greatest thing that Quora provided was the "Pregananant???" video. Or was that Yahoo?

  • I think it's just straight up uncanny valley. Don't think it's especially "dystopian" per se.

Honestly cartoon eyes might have actually worked better here.

  • it basically falls under the vehicle classification of tricycles and golf carts, so the safety standards are, shall we say, more lenient

  • I would prefer better crashworthiness though

  • "X can kill gems! Why don't we use X everywhere?"

X: Thing that can kill humans too. And/or cause cancer.

  • the point is that it isn't higher cost for those missions. Falcon Heavy will have to run at 100% expended mode which is nearly the same cost as Vulcan.

And some missions and payloads outright exclude falcon Heavy, period. High orbit and/or large satellites.

  • they can compete in very specific cases - like heavy load to GTO. Falcon Heavy would require full expenditure of all 3 cores to match, which wouldn't be much cheaper. Plus the larger fairing size helps with certain kinds of satellites.

  • in terms of usage though, they are quite similar. Coal serves on-demand power, whereas renewables generate power at times that don't always align with demand. Batteries can take the role of a coal plant if the renewables already generate sufficient energy, just at the wrong times.

  • Maybe a real honest American company, like Boeing

  • also, the EPA test cycle for highway has a maximum speed of 60mph, with the average below 50

  • HP actually has a brilliant business strategy.

    1. First get a huge customer base via cheap ass product
    2. Remove the customers who care about quality
    3. Remove the customers who care about reliability
    4. Remove the customers who care about price
    5. Remove the customers who pay attention to their monthly bills

voila, you have like 3 people left who you can charge infinite money for a lump of shit. Infinite profit margins

  • So much for the brilliant AI-specialized Tensor processor

It's basically just a mediocre processor that offloads interesting things to the mothership.

  • I read reviews before buying on day 2, basically. Sure, I expected some bugs, as the reviewers warned. I barely got any, just some visual glitches during cutscenes. Still, I would give the game a solid 8/10.

Came out of my playthrough to everyone raging about everything about the game. Couldn't even give an honest opinion about the game without being downvoted to oblivion because people who never even played the game refused to believe the game was playable at all.
