  • Might be in USD, but that probably doesn't translate to other currencies. Either way, they are using it to circumvent laws, refunds etc. They will still be pricing things so you have just under the amount you need, so you have to buy the next package up... then leaving you with too many coins than you needed, but still just short of another item. It's all predatory and needs to be abolished.

  • I'm sure they could draft something that allows that sort of thing still. The currency in games like EVE/WoW/RuneScape is technically an in-game item rather than a currency for a storefront.

If that sort of thing would end up being abused, then it'd have to go obviously.

  • Exactly, they can just give you credit if they want to use that strategy. These games are just designed in such ways to get people to spend as much money as they can. Removing the virtual currencies makes the actual spend much more obvious, reducing the effect it can have.

I think people will still spend a lot as they are far far too comfortable with games just offering skins for $20 now as the norm. It's disgusting really where we are at with games like this these days. Remember when you just earned a skin through playing the game?

  • Virtual currency that you purchase with real money should have been banned a long, long time ago.

  • The need to protect children from the many online harms is real, so its understandable that governments around the world, from the EU to Australia to Canada, are keen to follow the UK’s newly-enforced age verification law.

Uhh no Proton. The only thing that should be mandated is parental controls, then leave it up to the parents. All these age verification laws do is make the internet a more dangerous place for everyone, not just children.

But this isn't about safety, it's about state control. Don't be complicit in that, Proton... you already have fucked your public image recently.

  • If you guys ever get your country back, one of the first things you should do is demolish anything built under this clown.

  • On a public sidewalk? So why are people moving them out the way? It's a public space they can stand where they want and shout how they want. Fuck Fox, but their subtitles are hilarious as this is going on aha

  • How deluded is Israel really? They don't even have compelling arguments for anything, the UK Equality Act?? Israel isn't even in the UK, how could that ever apply? Besides, that's not even the point of the act, it doesn't prevent companies from not working with other companies and actors can choose to turn down any contracts they like.

    Fuck off Israel.

  • It's mainly about teaching hygiene.

  • It's really not a big deal lol. He already pointed out his error and leaving the video up is fine, it's showing that you can make mistakes and hold accountability. But its a fucking DVD video, let's not blow something so minor out of proportion for "drama" lmao

Also, that analogy couldnt be any more off the mark.

  • Well it doesnt matter, he acknowledged they are probably bootlegs in the comments and updated the title. People make mistakes, but its not a very big one here (was just something he didnt even consider) and the overall point of the video is still the same.

  • Don't mutilate your child. Just remember to teach them to retract the foreskin and wash under it, by the time they are 10, it should be unfused from the glans.

  • No, why would I wish to be mutilated?

  • While it would be amazing if Samsung did open their phones up for custom ROMs again, I highly doubt they are doing. Its going to be a much smaller OEM.

  • It's very important, but being able to make a journey end to end without it is just as important. Good cycling and walking routes can be used by mobility scooters too and while it may never be 100% accessible for everyone, it will be for the large majority, which makes it critical infrastructure.

  • It's handheld, which is already a major difference to the other consoles, along with the little Wii style control options.

They aren't selling it because of processing power, or necessarily the gimmick aspect, but on portability and "affordability". That makes it a more compelling product than gimped PCs that cost twice as much.

But the Steam Deck has started to carve into that market, with many other lower quality 'PC' handhelds appearing too.

  • I think Nintendo will survive the longest, the Switch is a handheld with gimmicky features which appeals to kids and families. They have strong IPs, people will buy literally anything that says Pokemon on it. They are very anti-consumer, but that doesn't matter to most unfortunately.

Xbox and PlayStation are essentially just heavily restricted PCs, so they don't really hold the same value as a Switch might.

  • It's just that people order online mostly these days. Sony are also doing this with their PlayStation.

Honestly though, consoles are dying breed.

  • It's not just about cycling or walking. In an ideal city, you can just walk to a tram, metro or bus and then enjoy a air conditioned journey. The point of the video is to highlight how the common excuses of "the weather" or "city too big" are not valid reasons to just keep building roads and dismiss public transport, walkable spaces or cycling paths. Any city will benefit from good people-first design, regardless if it's cold or hot, dry or wet, big or small.
