  • It seems like you are assuming an apartment rental and not a home rental. In my experience home rentals work very differently. Utilities are not included and you do end up paying quite a bit to maintain the home.

  • You may find a better answer in the distinction between "profit" and "exploit".

    Does GPL allow a corporation to profit off your work? Yes it does.

    Does it allow them to exploit your work? In my opinion, no.

    Compared to something like MIT which in my opinion lets them both profit and exploit you.

    Disclaimer: I'm not a lawyer by any means, just a GPL advocate.

  • I've personally never had sleep issues with my Linux handhelds but as a daily Linux desktop user I'm painfully aware that it's not on par with android.

    All the android bloat just drives me nuts. I just don't really love having the playstore and email and all that on my gaming device.

    The simplicity of the Linux devices and the way they just do one thing really appeals to me.

    FWIW I don't actually care much to play any games past PS1/N64 on handheld. Anything later just feels better suited for a desktop or steam deck (totally different class of device IMO).

    Yeah... I would also love to blame Monsanto but from what I understand it's basically impossible to definitively say what caused someone's cancer specifically.

    It's just the first instinct when I hear their name and "cancer" in the same sentence.

    One thing we can be sure of is cancer sucks and anything we can do as a species to understand it better is more than worth the effort.

  • FWIW I own an ungodly amount of these stupid little handheld consoles. Anbernic stuff is the best IMO but the retroid is also pretty neat.

    Main beef with the retroid is just that it runs android. The devices with minimal Linux systems are way cooler IMO.

    Stealing is to deprive someone of something they posses.

    It's not possible to possess something that doesn't exist yet. Your copy doesn't exist until you make it (by downloading the file).

    If you chose to not support creators by paying to copy thier work, that's maybe unethical but it's not stealing.

    If you hack into a Sony server and copy an unreleased film, then delete their copy, that is maybe stealing. Anything short of that is just copying.
