  • It sounds like you're pretty frustrated. There sure is far too much money spent on the military and the human rights abuses it causes. Please consider that there was never any claim made that we need to increase funding there; it's a strawman argument for something that you're rightfully upset about.

  • Who said anything about beurocratic governing bodies?

  • For what it's worth, I have never seen the movie and from my perspective, they're just two characters in a meme.

  • This is true while the meme is also not CCP/Kremlin propaganda.

  • Do you find that the types of people who seek authority over others are reasonable, educated, and mentally stable?

Dehumanizing groups of people as "wildlife" though... That's kinda messed up.

  • Consider starting a discussion instead of low-effort, snarky remarks. The latter is just toxic.

  • I actually find that both MAGA folks and modern conservatives are big on Laissez-faire capitalism.

  • Also, fire engunes are used to respond to non-fire related calls which are most of them.

  • An emergency... like someone going out of the blocked bike lane into traffic and getting hit by a truck which literally happened in Toronto recently?

  • How far is the university? Is it doable on an e-bike? Hopefully you could at least alleviate it a bit for shorter local trips by bike.

  • Releasing betas is common and acceptable for non safety critical applications. There are international standards for equipment under control of software which poses a threat to our safety (IEC61508), hence why this is not allowed in many other coutries.

Of course, we don't release airplanes with software in beta, and they are statistically far less dangerous than cars. Yet cars also pose a threat to people around them who did not consent to be part of it.

  • I think that holds internationally, but the USA eats a massive amount of meat and less beans comparatively.

  • This is one study. Both the author of this article and you should not be so quick to draw strong conclusions.

For instance, the idea that early humanoids took the form of "cavemen" who ate a ton of meat is debated, and largely built on assumptions made from finding hunting tools.

More recent evidence of the oldest known fossilized human feces has shown very amounts of dietary fiber - much more than our modern diet. The amount of meat eaten in the USA today is not historically common.

  • I find it fascinating how it's called methane in this context, but natural gas when oil companies sell their fracking bi-product to heat homes and run water heaters.

  • We shouldn't test code in production, so why are we testing safety critical systems around people who could be fatally injured by cars?

  • Imo the deaths caused by the fumes should have more weight in these sorts of discussions than how we perceive the fumes.

  • It's a 10mph reduction in Wales. Often, motorists assume it'll "suck" but it only reduces their commute by seconds while literally saving lives.
