Just a bastard roaming around the world

  • Portuguese, people. X sound like sh in Portuguese. So Xopping, xell, xelter and Xitter. Words in Portuguese where X sounds like sh: xarope, xerife, xícara.

  • "You're all landed gentry! But hey, send some money to me by buying a little stock okay?"

Yeah spez, kindly go fuck yourself.

  • Religion is about shit that is not real

    "Year of Linux on Desktop"

    "Better than Windows"

    "Linux is easy"

"You never need to use the terminal"

"Everything you need runs on Linux"

"Android IS Linux, therefore is the most popular OS"

Yeah, sounds like religion to me.

  • Courage. Magic. We think you gonna love it.

  • Webrings were cool but flawed. I'd like something like tumblr, where you can comment and @ someone, but in a federated system where each would manage their own.

I thought about using Mastodon as a comment system for my blog but the tools to accomplish it are way over my head. I'm not a developer, just someone who happens to know how to install a CMS and to tweak some HTML and CSS.

  • I have a blog and a gallery on my own domain. I just want a system for people to interact and recommend my blog and photos that isn't WordPress, and that is so damn hard to find. A federated wibbly wobbly, timey wimey stuff that connects existing sites.

  • I can think a couple of uses like working on my motorcycle with the service manual floating above it, and getting reference pictures or line art to trace while drawing. In the future maybe having AR features to learn playing guitar or drums. All niche cases, and certainly not worth 3500 for it.

  • I guess it reached the limit of the sky box, there's nothing running on the simulation after that.

  • Funny how it is, the smart shuffle is something I actually like because, when I'm in the mood, it brings something new to the table.

  • How does it work better for you? To me it's annoying, I cannot easily move folders around anymore, nor move playlists into folders if I'm not using the desktop app.

Also, the + (former ♥️ button) is the worst offender to me. I used to use the button to add a music to my big "liked" default list, the one that is more permanent, and the three dots to add it to a playlist, which are more fluid. So playlists come and go, and not every song on a playlist is the one i want on my definitive pool of "always wanted" songs.

Then someone at Spotify decided to say "fuck you users", and merged the + and three dots, making it harder to know if a song is already in my main "liked" list.

Say I have a playlist I created, the + button is now a ✅ button. It tells me the song is saved somewhere. I have to tap it to see where, which 1. is completely unintuitive, because tapping a check button would create me the expectation of uncheking it, but it instead shows me a list of playlists! What in the freaking hell? This is decades of UI convention thrown out the windows for a really bad concept.

And 2, being checked doesn't mean it's my favorite song, just that it is saved on some playlist. It's a mistery, which is only solved by tapping the schizophrenic +/✅ button, instead of simply saying to me "yep, you liked this song".

    So... Yeah. I hate Spotify.

  • Please clarify it to me because I read this debacle as Apple blackmailing developers HARD into not talking bad things about the company. I get they're evil and petty but I'm having a hard time to believe they're this childish and stupid, specially with the DMA knocking at their doors.

  • Talk about a "oh no, anyway" moment. I used the feature for about two days, saw no benefit from it, and completely forgot it was even there.

  • I like Tidal because its interface isn't downright crap. What Spotify did to playlists and to the heart/cross button is so damn annoying.

  • Appimages are awesome for the regular user. Single file, just double click to run anywhere. Snap and Flatpak should die a quick death and all the work should be used to improve Appimages. There's no other concept for the end user as simple and clear as this.

  • Maybe now they can focus on things like fixing bugs and, you know, not letting their OSes being stagnant pieces of rotting shit.
