I suppose what i mean is non normative indegenous culture. The predominant culture in the US is western pop culture. So indegenous cultures have to fight a lot harder to maintain their identity here; as do many immigrant families.
I mean, the american expirement is pretty new. Most other countries dont seem to have the same levels of immigrant and [non normative] indigenous cultures. It makes sense that it seems odd to them. But many people here are from all over the word and they usually keep some form of tradition alive as a way to connect with that.
My heritage is from multiple diaspora that have survived being exiled from their home numerous times. Denying that heritage for my nationality seems disrespectful of my ancestors. Especially since the american empire was a big part of that generational trauma.
Honestly, i wish. Ive been struggling to find a safe place to reconnect with that heritage myself. A lot of the standard temples are pretty heavy on zionism. Thats why i was so happy to find out about Torah Jews. I dont know of a Torah specific temple near me though. The most luck ive had is at Unitarian Universalist churches and the internet but that is not the same as having local community of your people
And i appreciate that. Then, you should know better than most that lumping jews together with zionists is a dangerous game. I was raised pretty secular so i am only learning the deeper parts of things the last few years. But from what i understand, that is why there is such a massive riff in the orthodox communities. Some jews take those passages literally and forsake the rules ahead of them. Some, like torah jews and certain sects of hassidics, look a it more metaphorically and the rules of YHWH take precedence
There are some clubs and bars in my city that do that too. Not to say sketchy things dont happen, but people have always been chill whenever im in there
Maybe but thats kind of what they already did. Modern day zionism was invented to push the jewish people out of europe and destabilize the middle east. That has literally always been its utility
Mysterious ways, alright
